Most of the major towns in Kenya have at least one or more places or points that are open to the public where people especially those who don’t have money to pay for a hotel meet to discuss one or two issues.
In Nakuru town, Nyayo Gardens is the famous meeting point for most people ranging from job seekers, protesters, preachers, idlers and even pickpockets who meet to plan their day's work.
Nyayo Garden situated at the center of Nakuru town on Kenyatta Avenue, is the resting place to many who find it the point to relax.
Here, the biggest percentage of the people who come to relax are job seekers and idlers, who prefer relaxing asunder the cool shades of the trees other than roaming around town.
Paul Mauche, a cleaner with the county government says that most idlers and job seekers can even spent the whole day at the quite garden.
“Some people come here as early at 8 am and they will be seen leaving in the evening. Many come here to relieve stress and unwind after tarmacking and it is normal,” said Mauche.
He added that the garden also serves as home for street children who spent the night there.
“Some street families come here at night to spend the night under the trees and this garden is also a good working station for street preachers who come to feed the people with the word of God,”
