Kiambu County Women Representative Anne Nyokabi has urged the county government to educate marginalised groups on existing development funds.
Addressing journalists at Kiambu town on Monday, the Women Representative noted that some marginalised groups were not aware of the procedures required in applying for development funds.
Nyokabi said that some marginalized groups especially women are reluctant to apply for the existing funds because they have little information on the procedures needed.
“The national and county governments needs to sensitize and educate youths, women and persons living with disabilities on the available funds and government tenders for them to apply,” she said.
The Kiambu Women Representative said that many marginalised groups will apply for the funds and be able to advance their lives if they are educating about them.
She said that unemployment and poverty facing the county will reduce if marginalized groups are empowered economically.
At the same time, the Kiambu women leader said that the Sh2 billion given to the county under the Affirmative Action Social Development Fund will be used to empower women and other groups economically.
Nyokabi said that empowering women will provide a platform for realisation of development goals.
The women representative asked county women to remain focus and take part in activities that will foster unity and development.
