Residents of Nyota Ward in Kuresoi North have called on Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to help renovate roads in the area saying their poor state was affecting transport.
According to the residents, a majority of who are businessmen, some parts were totally impassable with the ongoing rains making the situation even worse.
They said Mungetho road stretching from Muchorwi, Kwa Mwaura, Sitoito up to Mungetho shopping centre had become a real threat to their day to day activities.
“Most of us live in the village and must ensure that our products, a majority which are perishable reach the market on time but the situation of the roads was making it almost impossible,” noted Erastus Munyoki.
He said his business which previously was moving on well had slowly started deteriorating because of the issue.
“Most of our customers cannot make it to the villages, they wait for our produce at the shopping centre and if you delay, they don’t wait for you. Somebody should hear our plea because we are suffering,” he added.
Anne Muthoni who owns several motorbikes; the costs of maintaining the bikes had increased in the last few months because continuous tear and wear.
“Maintenance is my biggest concern because the poor road system makes parts drop off while carrying luggage’s at times is challenging. Our boys don’t want to engage in the business anymore because it’s not paying as it used to do before,” she said.
They were speaking during a meeting at Mungetho shopping centre on Sunday where they threatened to demonstrate if nothing was done to avert the situation before the month ends.
