Students who applied for bursaries in Nyota ward, Kuresoi South have a reason to smile after area MCA Njuguna Gicamu Tuesday noted that the list of the 2016 academic year beneficiaries was ready.

Gicamu apologised for the long delay saying that some logistical hitches had marred the whole process in the last financial year forcing the monies meant for bursaries to be channelled to other projects.

He called on parents’ whose children applied for bursaries from 2015 to liaise with his Mungetho office to confirm if they had been funded.

Speaking at the Nyota Shopping centre on Monday, he noted that the vetting committees incurred a hard time finding out previous applicants who have ever since finished school but expressed confidence in supporting all needy students in the area.

“Now that last year we forgo the process due to reasons above our control, anybody who applied from then can check if he benefitted in this year’s allocation because we have considered previous and present applicants,” he said.

The MCA further called on school heads to help identify students who might have benefited but were no longer schooling are at advanced stages of their education so that the money is not wasted.
