Members of the public in Gatundu North sub county have been urged to step up their vigilance in a bid to curb cases of insecurity in the area.
Speaking at Kamwangi police station on Wednesday, the area OCPD Benjamin Mwasaha observed that security matters called for public participation with an aim of boosting the government’s efforts of curbing crime through the sharing of information.
"In the recent past, terror gangs have been attacking innocent business persons in Kamwangi town especially the Mpesa business operators. The county government has now put enough efforts to counter insecurity," he said.
He urged the residents to keep an eye on suspicious characters and report them while observing timeliness.
"Through community policing and the Nyumba kumi initiative, members of the public can share information through the profiling of suspects which will help thwart crime from Kamwangi community," he said.
Muli said that it was everyone’s responsibility to know their neighbours citing that it would be easier to not only stump out crimes but to also identify special cases of social ills affecting the residents for quick intervention to be initiated.
He urged the residents to cooperate with the police to combat crimes especially ahead of December holidays.
