ODM Chairman John Mbadi has announced that the party's nominations will be done based on support being given to the party by individuals.

Mr Mbadi said most of those who have been nominated in the County Assemblies and even Parliament have failed to support the party.

He said it is bad that those nominated have failed to participate in campaigns for the party candidates during by elections.

“Some of the MCAs who were nominated earn up to Sh200,000 per month but they cannot even support any party activity in their wards,” he said.

He said that party organs at the grassroots level will be given the mandate to propose names for nominations.

Speaking to women leaders in Nyanza region in Kisumu on Saturday, Mbadi said those nominated by the part must be loyal and supportive to the party.

He said that there are many women who have stood by the party but miss out during the nominations.

“Many women party supporters have been neglected when it comes to nominations into MCAs or MPs. Those getting these positions have no value for the party. Things are changing and the party must now reward its supporters,” he said.

Mbadi said the new rule will be used to reward those who have stood firmly with the party.
