ODM Kisii County branch has confirmed suspension of deputy governor Joash Maangi (Organising Secretary) and County Assembly Speaker Kerosi Ondieki (Vice Chairperson).
This follows allegations that they were working closely with Jubilee government and abandoning the ideas of their party.
The two were suspended by party’s area Coordinating Secretary Erick Janganya who is also the county's Youth League chairman on Tuesday.
Speaking to this writer on phone Wednesday, Janganya defended the move saying it was endorsed by members of party’s coordinating committee which has powers to suspend members pending approval by party’s national disciplinary body.
“I want to confirm without a doubt that they (Maangi and Ondieki) remain suspended for now. All members sitting in the ODM county coordinating committee were unanimous and we can’t challenge the voice of majority. I only do what ODM constitution demands of me to do,” he said.
Janganya said the party took the decision since the two have been on a number of occasions found culpable of promoting Jubilee government's agenda contrary to the party’s code of conduct with the most recent being a delegation in which they led to Deputy President William Ruto’s home, a move that was not welcome by party’s top leadership.
“They are enemies from within because they are championing for Jubilee agenda contrary to the party’s stand. They were at DP's home to discuss politics and not development as they have been saying. Our decision is informed and we have nothing to regret about,” he added.
The embattled deputy governor however remained defiant during an interview on Egesa FM on Tuesday, accusing the party of being anti-development.
