The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party will hold nominations six months before 2017 general elections to give it adequate time to resolve emerging issues.

Elections Board Commissioner for Nyanza Mr Peter Odoyo said that in the past, the party was running out of time to look into complaints arising from the nominations.

Odoyo said that this time round, the party will be able to carry out second round of nominations in case of disputes.

“Holding nominations early will give the party time to sort out issues arising from the nominations. In the past, time was too short that the party could not hold another nomination in centers where there are disputes,” he said.

He extended an olive branch to parry members who had decamped from ODM to other parties.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Monday, Odoyo said the party was keen to give certificates to party officials who were popular.

He accused some of the party officials of failing to market the party, noting that such members should not be given certificates.

Odoyo said that contentions following the recent party elections had been resolved.

“We had returning officers on the ground during the party elections and we have issued certificates to those who won,” he said.

He said the will of the people must be give priority as a way of developing the party.

Odoyo said he has no say in giving out party certificates to officials.
