Deputy Organising Secretary for the Orange Democratic Movement Rozah Buyu has said the party is now targeting households in the voter registration drive.

Buyu said she is in the process of strengthening the initiative in Kisumu West sub-county where she is calling on branch officials to walk door to door and check if every adult has a national ID and voter’s’ card.

She added that in the last election many people did not vote because leaders did not reach out to them and that was what they wanted to change.

“ODM has leaders in the 69 polling stations which have 58 officials each who will ensure they reach every household to look for people who do not have ID cards,” said Buyu.

The Kisumu West ODM Chairman Gideon Ochieng said they are targeting the aged in grass root to acquire the important document held of 2017 General Election.

“We are currently registering people in their homes, since they cannot make it to the centres to be registered. We are not leaving anything to chance,” said Ochieng.

He stated that they are going to every home and demanding to confirm if everybody in the house and is above 18 years old has a national Identity Card and a voters card.

He stated that what they are doing is not bad and that is why they are liaising with the provincial administration to achieve this.
