Nyamira MCAs allied to Orange Democratic Party who have allegedly been courting rival Jubilee Alliance will be summoned by the county’s party officials to answer to the allegations, the party vice chair has confirmed.

This comes after a number of MCAs from the county led by speaker Joash Nyamoko reportedly visited Deputy President William Ruto’s Sugoi home early January against the party regulations.

Speaking to this reporter on Thursday, Mr Julius Kaka said the summons intend to ‘clean’ the party ahead of 2017 polls.

“We are in the process of cleaning the party and we are going to start by summoning errant MCAs who have repeatedly violated the party’s stands. As county officials, we have identified the MCAs in question and the list will be made public after we have summoned them officially,” he said.

Mr Kaka said the party will be keen to expunge those found culpable from key assembly committee apart from revoking their membership and subsequently banning them from vying next general elections on the party ticket.

“It’s either they work with us or with the other group. We will consider removing some of them from various assembly committees as a punishment and those with extreme cases will have their names expunged from ODM membership and subsequently banned from participating in our party’s activities including 2017 nominations,” he added.

He also said the party will launch a series of campaigns in grassroots using officials who were recently elected to popularise its manifesto and said they were ready to welcome defections from other rival parties.
