Motorists plying Thika roads have been asked to be cautious of slippery roads while driving during this rainy season.
Speaking to a section of matatu drivers and conductors at Thika town on Wednesday, area traffic base commander William Uhuru said most roads in the area are slippery due the ongoing rains.
The traffic boss also cautioned motorists against speeding and driving during heavy storms.
He said several cases of accidents as a result of slippery roads have been reported in the area since the rains started.
“We are appealing to motorists and other road users to be careful when using the roads which are slippery due to heavy rains,” he said.
Uhuru said more traffic police will be deployed along major roads to ensure ease of movement of traffic during this rainy period.
On the same note, the he has put on notice rogue motorists fond of disobeying traffic rules.
He said the crackdown to rid the road of rogue motorists will continue in the area saying sanity must be brought back to the roads.
The commander said they have partnered with the National Transport and Safety Authority to educate motorists on the importance of road safety.
