Kisumu Central constituency parliamentary seat hopeful Mr Richard Ogendo is set to appear in court next week to answer charges of incitement and resisting arrest.

Ogendo was arrested Tuesday night at a social joint in Manyatta where he was watching an English Premier League soccer match with his friends.

Ogendo said the police asked the bar owner if he had a permit that allowed him to operate past 11pm.

“When the bar owner did not produce the permit, they started arresting people in the bar,” said Ogendo.

He was later taken to Kondele Police Station and his supporters followed him, creating tension at the station by demanding his release.

“It was at this point that the police charged me with incitement and resisting arrest because my supporters refused to let go of me,” said Ogendo.

He was later released on a Sh20,000 bond.

He said that he has already secured a lawyer and will definitely appear before court next week.

After being released later in the morning, he went straight to Kibuye market where he spearheaded a voter registration exercise.
