The election of lawyer Isaac Okero to the helm of LSK presidency has been welcomed by his colleagues in the practice from Nyamira County.

Okero was elected the President of the society after beating his close challenger Aggrey Mwamu and will replace Erick Mutua.

Led by Steve Mogaka at Kiambere region in Nyamira, they expressed their optimism in the Kisumu-based lawyer and challenged him to revamp the society by uniting all lawyers across the country.

“I have confidence in Okero and as his colleague; I challenge him to unite all lawyers who in the past have shown disagreements in handling critical matters affecting the public. It’s time for him to restore the confidence of the society among Kenyans,” he said.

Former LSK chair Okong’o Mogeni welcomed the election of the young lawyer and challenged him to be impartial in handling matters affecting the general public.

“He has a challenge. I once served in the capacity and I understand the pressure that he is set to face. However, he has to always lead his team by critically interpreting the law. He must always consult his colleagues to avoid making mistakes. The political pressure is also a common thing. It’s therefore important to always be impartial in handling matters regarding public affairs,” he said.

Counsel Alphaxard Mogikoyo on his part slammed the outgoing regime, labeling it scandalous and expressed his optimism that the new team will rectify ‘serious mistakes’ once they assume office.

“I have always doubted the integrity of Mutua (Erick) and his team. They single handedly handled LSK as their personal property. I am sure the new team under Okero will rectify serious mistakes done by their predecessors,” he said.
