Matungulu residents have complained that 14 seater matatu drivers are flouting traffic laws as they ply between Tala and Kangundo towns especially at night.
Some of the residents yesterday said that its so unfortunate that a 14 passenger matatu ferries over 25 people at night and its unfortunate that there are no traffic police within that route.
"I wonder alot the purpose of traffic police officers here because they don't do what is expected from them.They just take bribes and I have witnessed that several time.They are always there both day and night and i spot them taing bribes from my home."said Jackson Ndaka aspiring MCA in the area. "I use these vehicles daily from kangundo where I run my business and at night I go back home which situated just here near Tala town.The way we get packed in these vehicles is a clear indication that there is nothing traffic police officers are doing here.It's too bad as one can suffocate."said Jane Kanini. They call upon the county government of machakos to take action by ensuring each vehicle ferries required number of passengers.
