Kisii Governor James Ongwae is welcoming everyone to the county’s first ever entrepreneurship summit, set to begin on February 25.

The Kisii Entrepreneurship Summit, to run between February 25-27, seeks to identify how to deepen ties between business leaders, entrepreneurs and other business communities around the world.

According to Mr Ongwae, the main aim of the event is to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship in Kisii and to encourage young people and the general public to consider starting businesses as an alternative to employment.

“The summit will create a platform that will continue celebrating entrepreneurs, creating meaningful connections, building cross-county bridges and sparking much-needed conversations that is aimed at generating sustainable investments and partnerships with the youth and the country as a whole,” the governor wrote in his Facebook page.

He added: “In Kisii County, we are committed to actively pursuing interventions that will foster investment. We are keen to explore practical and realistic ways of creating value out of the abundant resources to achieve faster economic growth.”

The governor argued that the fact that a number of investors have already plugged into existing investment opportunities in the county shows that there is an ideal investment culture.
