A man was brutally murdered in Nakuru's Kiti estate on Saturday after people he allegedly met on a buying-and-selling website posing as car buyers turned out to be gangsters.
According to County head of flying squad Samuel Barongo Ongote, the deceased, Alex Mariera was lurred into the business after the gang travelled from Nairobi on Friday so as to conduct a road test on his Toyota fielder he had allegedly posted on OLX.
"Upon receiving the report, we immediately traced the available leads where unfortunately we found him murdered and dumped by the roadside," he said.
Police suspected that the deceased was strangled to death.
"At the recovery scene, his neck was tied with a rope and his head stuffed in a polythene bag," Ongote said.
Investigations have been launched to trace the gang who are on the run with police warning residents to be cautious with people they meet online.
