Kenya as a country is treading on dangerous grounds with the political temperatures raised above the bar level several months before the general elections scheduled for August 2017.

Bearing in mind that several institutions mandated with solving leadership crisis are now faced with corruption allegations, the possibility of running into pre-election or post-election troubles is staring at us right in the face, yet we choose to look aside and pretend all is well.

The Supreme Court, where dissatisfied candidates in the last hotly contested elections ran to in the middle of rigging allegations, to break the tie and restore calm in the country, is now facing serious charges of corruption scandals, with one of its judges fighting allegations of being bribed to favour a candidate in an election petition.

The allegations have casted a spell of doubt and dissatisfaction among citizens and aspirants.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has not been left behind in unscrupulous doings, with the Chicken Gate Scandal threatening to plunge it into extinction. The commission is literary limping to survive with the current low turnout in voter registration being a direct testimony that most Kenyans are silently and passively passing a vote of no confidence in the commission.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (EACC) which many of us look up to has been literary reduced to zero. Terming it a shell of its own self is an understatement. It is now popular for numerous raids into alleged suspects' residences that bear no fruits in the end.

In fact, the majority section of leaders has dismissed the EACC as a commission been steered by strong forces or enemies of progress.

After all is said and done, the need to restore confidence across the country is much more needed now than ever, before we step from the frying pan right into the fire and remain with marks of memories forever after.

I am not trying to be the devils spokes person here or little even a prophet of doom, but God forbid if we run into political unrest like witnessed in the 2007/2008 election. Where will we turn to bearing in mind the supposed walk out of all African Nations from the Rome Statute and the ICC.

To cut the long story short, this is a wakeup call to all the leaders and citizens of good will who have the nation's best interest at heart, to combine forces and see to it that we salvage these institutions.

Let us all walk the talk.
