Facility strapped school going orphans at a Kisii county care centre have a reason to smile after they received donations to enable them to report to various schools.
Keumbu Holiness Children’s Centre, which has over 60 orphans who are facing difficulties when it comes to reporting to schools be it high school or university due to the lack of sponsorship or money for fees.
The centres' director, Abel Onchari, disclosed that some children fail to join schools because they lack basic things such as school uniforms or even shows. He was addressing this issue on Monday at a Naivas retail outlet in Kisii town, after receiving donations which included exercise books, pens, beddings and slippers as having arrived at the opportune time.
The branch manager of the outlet, Evans Omwansa, also observed that orphans should be assisted to be at par with their colleagues in normal homes so that they do not feel out of place or neglected.
Omwansa commended the good work being done by the centres' administration and challenged Kenyans to assist the children with uniforms and clothes that they urgently need.
