Kisii County boss James Ongwae has received backing from area women representative Mary Otara who labelled MPs who were against the leadership of the governor as selfish.

MPs Jimmy Angwenyi (Kitutu Chache North), Manson Nyamweya (South Mugirango), Joel Onyancha (Bomachoge-Borabu) and Bobasi’s Stephen Manoti have been critical of Mr Ongwae’s leadership.

“Some of our leaders are very selfish and you know them. They are always criticising the governor in political functions without telling our people the truth. I have been observing keenly the contribution of the county government to infrastructure and education sector and I think his record is fantastic,” she said.

Otara urged the dissenting MPs to bury the hatchet with the county leadership and utilise the little remaining time to launch common plans that can transform the living standards of areas people.

“The governor is always ready to listen and I wonder why some of my colleagues are not ready to support him. As leaders, we should hold meetings to discuss areas that we need to see being worked on. We cannot improve the living standards of our people if we politic smatter development,” she added.

She, however, urged the governor not to succumb to political pressure from section of MPs who were not ready to work with him.

“As long as we are supporting him and residents are contended with your work, just move on because we will defend you when time comes,” Otara said.
