Several students from Naivasha Girls high school have been confirmed to have contracted the disease.

Speaking at the school on Wednesday, Nakuru County health officer Samwel King’ori confirmed the incident.

“The situation is already in control. We have sent health officers here to handle the situation,” King’ori said.

The officer assured parents that all is well.

“I want to assure parents that their children are safe,” he added.

However, despite the assurance, residents are worried.

“We have it was due to contaminated water. Now we are wondering because that is the same water we use,” Evalyne Muthoni.

“The issue of clean water here is a major panic,” Justus Mwaniki said.

King’ori urged residents to ensure they maintain high levels of hygiene to avoid the waterborne disease.
