Chemno warned that such parents will be arrested and charged with child negligence.

He said most parents with disabled children are ashamed of them, locking them in their houses.

"I have received credible reports from credible sources that there are some parents who hide disabled children denying them the right to education as enshrined in the constitution," he said.

He said such children can only be assisted if they are brought forward by their parents.

"Uasin Gishu County has set aside Sh20 million to help people with disabilities therefore I urge parents with such children to seek assistance in our offices. You should also take your children to special schools," he said.

He also urged all education stakeholders in Uasin Gishu to help the county government by taking stern actions against parents hiding disabled children and denying them the right to education yet it' free and compulsory.

"It's not sin to have a disabled child, it's the will of God, therefore they should be treated just like their normal counterparts," he said.
