A section of Kitutu Masaba parents now want the government to lift the ban of preps and allow schools to hold weekend tuition as a way of boosting performances in national exams from the region.

Led by Charles Anunda at Iranya Primary School on Wednesday during a fundraiser, they said that the region was experiencing a series of dismal performances in the recent KCPE exams.

“Our schools (in Kitutu Masaba) performed poorly in KCPE exams and this isn’t the first time. When we investigate, we find that in most cases, teachers do not finish their syllabuses on time. We want the government to remove the preps restrictions so that we can create enough study time for our students,” he said.

“Let the government lift the restrictions and let the teachers and parents organize the rest. We are really discouraged with cases where some schools like Sungututa Primary School could only manage to score a mean of 180,” he said.
