Parents in Mavoko have commended the area MP for his support for education.
They attributed the good performance in last year's KCPE examinations to the MP's support.
John Kibe, whose child sat the examinations at a local public school and scored 401 and a parents representative at the school lauded Mavoko MP Patrick Makau for providing the candidates with solar lamps and mathematical sets in preparation for the examinations.
Kibe said the lamps enabled the children majority of who hail from humble backgrounds to conduct their personal studies in their homes while preparing for the exams.
He said the MP made the best decision in providing the beneficiaries with the items arguing not even a single parent had thought of getting his child a permanently more reliable source of light.
Kibe said it was safe and more convenient for the children to use the lamps for their studies arguing that they produced clean clear light free from sight infections.
He noted that that was a plus to the MP since the children from public schools had stayed at home for several months as their counterparts enjoyed their education in private schools.
Kibe who addressed the press in Athi River town on Tuesday, said the MP equally reduced costs to the parents by providing the children with recommended geometric mathematical sets.
He said such initiatives needed to be encouraged and supported in the future for best interests of children who sit for their national examinations in the region
