Kisii based writer and activist, Joseph Kiai has urged parents to help in the fight against exam cheating citing that the parents had a role to play.
“As much as the government tries to fight exam irregularities without the support of the parents the fight is futile. Parents have a big role to play'” said Kiai.
“Most parents want success from the children. They go forward to push their children to achieve the goal even through illegitimate ways," said Kiai.
"We have heard cases of parents buying phones and exam papers for their children to aid them in the exam which is very unfortunate,” added Kiai.
He adds that even if the child does not excel in the secondary exam through illegitimate ways, the same child will have difficulties at the university level.
“Even if your child performs exemplary in the KCSE exam and ends up in the best courses, they will have difficulties since that was not their rightful course," said Kiai.
