Parents in Kisumu County have been urged to work closely with teachers in order to improve results of their children.
Martin Okwili, a quality assurance officer based in Kisumu has said that teachers alone cannot handle children without parents' support.
Speaking to this writer on Sunday on phone, Okwili said parents across Kisumu County should play their role in boosting performance.
Okwili who was speaking in the wake of the just released KCPE results said that the good results posted in the county could have been much better if all stake holders had put heads together.
"Nowadays parents leave everything to teachers, something not advisable at all. Parents should first of all give guidance to their children. In such a scenario it becomes easier for the child to be handled at school. Teachers cannot play the guidance role and at the same time teach," he said.
He added that most schools face the challenge of inadequate books and revision materials, and therefore called on parents to go an extra mile by buying this materials for their children.
He cautioned parents to stop the assumption that since primary education was free, they did have any reason to contribute financially to the education of their children.
He however took the opportunity to congratulate those who had excelled in 2015 KCPE exams.
