Thousands of patients were for the better part of Tuesday morning forced to seek alternatives after doctors and nurses at the Molo Sub County Hospital boycotted duty.
A communique to patients, journalists and any other visitor to the facility signed by the hospital's superintendent stated that the strike was as a result of accumulated grievances that the county government of Nakuru had failed to address.
"We have sought audience with the relevant ministry in vain and as if they are mocking our patience, they have delayed our salaries, kindly bear with the situation as we try to reach an agreement," read part of the notice.
The most affected groups are patients in the casualty wing, expectant mothers and those that needed blood transfusion.
No official was on site to comment over the same, but Nakuru County health CeC Dr Mungai Kabii when contacted said a crisis meeting would be held Tuesday afternoon.
He said he expected operations at the hospital to resume by latest Wednesday morning.
