Following the continuous rains received in the past one and half months now around the country, residents and rental house owners have been urged to consider planting flowers at their living premises during this rainy season to make the environment look beautiful and to also earn a living.

A flower vendor at DC market in Kibera Mr. John Kamau has encouraged residents to ensure that they have planted flowers before the end of this rainy season at their living premises as this will help to improve the beauty of the environment.

“When landlords and constructors build up houses, they should ensure there is a larger space left to plant flowers. I sell flowers that I buy from Naivasha; if such flowers are planted here, I would not struggle to go to buy flowers from far. The money could have been circulating here within Kibera," said Mr. Kamau.

Kamau added that planting flowers will not only protect and show the beauty of the environment but can also help one to earn a living by selling the flowers.

“An environment which has flowers is beautiful, clean and safe with fresh breathing air," he concluded.
