Gatundu North sub-county commissioner Daniel Nyamiti has warned that all vehicles found ferrying bhang along the Thika-Flyover road will be seized and burnt in public.
Addressing Mang’u residents on Friday, the commissioner said police officers have been used by traffickers.
"A lot of bhang has been seized at the roadblocks over the years but traffickers have devised new ways of hiding the bhang and called on police manning the highway to be on high alert and search all vehicles thoroughly,’ he said.
The police boss further warned police officers colluding with the drug peddlers that their days were numbered and severe disciplinary measures would be mooted to them if caught.
"I also warn my officers not to collude with the bang culprits otherwise their demotion and total eviction from the service is underway. We cannot destroy a whole generation even as the people who are mandated to secure their future are watching. This won’t happen under my leadership," he vowed.
Nyamiti who led his security team and chiefs on an impromptu search of buildings at Gathithi village cautioned all building owners that their premises would be demolished if they are used to conduct drug trade.
He appealed to members of the public to volunteer any information that would lead to the arrest of drug peddlers at the area.
