Police in Elburgon have called on area residents to stop interfering with the sodomy case facing a Sunday school teacher lest they affect the delivery of justice.

Speaking in his office on Monday, area OCPD Job Lesikinwa exuded confidence that they had gathered enough evidence to continue with the case but advised the affected children’s parents to avoid interfering with the case and await the court ruling.

He said that once the matter was in court, everything was under control and there was nothing to panic about since the matter was sensitive and needed to be handled with the seriousness it deserved.

“Some parents think we are not doing what it takes to have the accused face the full force of the law and have formed a habit of camping at the station asking endless questions some of which we are not in the capacity to even answer,” he said.

He advised parents to stay away and avoid reminding their children about the ordeal by asking them questions about the incident, saying that some were still traumatised.

“Let the law take its course, don’t talk about it at home because most of the affected children are still too young and everything was still fresh on their minds. Let’s allow them to forget about it first,” he advised.

Last week, police were forced to lob teargas canisters to disperse a crowd baying for the blood of the suspect after he appeared before a Molo court.

Similarly, Molo Residential Magistrate James Wanyanga cautioned the residents against interfering with the case saying that once the matter was in court everything was in order.

The Sunday school teacher is accused of sodomising more than 10 young boys aged between 8 and 15 on various dates.
