Gituamba ward health administrator Joseph Mugo has lauded the pace at which polio vaccination exercise is being carried out in the area and has commended the officers for their efforts to reach all the households despite of the inconveniences caused by the rains.

Speaking at Gituamba on Wednesday morning, the health administrator who is also the main doctor at the Gituamba Hospital said that an estimated 1, 500 children are expected to be vaccinated before Thursday when the exercise will close in the area.

Mugo noted that the ward had recorded the fastest pace of vaccination adding that Gituamba had the most number of children that required the vaccination.

The health officer noted that the vaccinating officers were overworking to ensure they meet the target despite of being inconvenienced by rains and impassable roads.

"I am satisfied with the pace at which our officers are administering the polio vaccine in the area. We are estimating to vaccinate 1, 500 children in Gituamba and we have so far vaccinated 733 children. The exercise will be closed tomorrow and I believe we will have met our target," he said.

Mugo revealed that the officers on course in the area will be given shopping vouchers worth Kshs. 1, 000 each for doing a commendable job. He also lauded parents for cooperating with the officers by availing their children for vaccination and agreeing to sign the vaccination letter.

"This has only been possible because the parents have been cooperative. We will award these officers by giving them a shopping voucher of Kshs. 1, 000 each for doing us proud," he said.
