Kibera residents have expressed their displeasure over poor drainage in their area and have urged the relevant authorities to address their plight.

Soweto area which is part of the populous Kibera slum is one of the most poorly drained areas in Nairobi's biggest informal settlement.

This has not gone well with the area residents who now claim that their lives are in danger and outbreak of cholera is imminent.

The residents accused the Nairobi County government of buying time in addressing the problem.

Paul Owino, an area resident, whose frustration was written all over his face said that that it's high time that the leaders they elected proved to them that they care for them.

"The people we elected are nowhere to be seen. They are waiting for 2017 to emerge from their hiding places to seek our votes," he said angrily.

He said that the dirty water flowing in the area is posing a health threat to children who play innocently in the dirty water.

The same sentiments were echoed by another resident, Beryl Ogambi.

"We are suffering here and seems like the county government is ignoring our cries,"she said.
