Outspoken Blogger Robert Alai is now claiming a very powerful person and known to the Kisumu county government was behind the fire that razed down Kibuye market.
Alai pointed out various issues that to him drove to one point, that Kibuye fire was an arson attack on poor traders.
The blogger argued that the fire engine arrived after a long time and that the driver of the first fire engine had to go back to bring the second fire engine after he exhausted the water.
“The market was burnt so that the "modern market" could be built. It is evil to burn the wealth of people so that you can promise them things. The burning of the market was well calculated,” said Alai.
He questioned why all the Kibuye electric faults occur only at night and why there is no disaster response to the critical facility supporting livelihoods.
“We must stop people who kill the spirits of the poor people. It will be a tragedy to elect such evil characters,” said Alai.
His sentiments came even as Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma warned leaders against politicising the tragedy and in stead focus on finding solutions to help those whose property was destroyed.
