Muhoroni MP Onyango Koyoo has appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to return the Pubic Audit Act with amendment to parliament.
Koyoo said President Kenyatta should know that the laws he is signing will take the country for years to come.
The MP said the president ought to have rejected the Bill that aims to put restriction on the office of the Auditor General.
“Signing the Public Audit Bill into an Act was wrong and the president should revoke that Act and return the Bill back to parliament with amendments,” he said.
He hailed former President Mwai Kibaki for making good laws to the country during his tenure.
“Mwai Kibaki made good laws when he was the president and now he is in retirement peacefully. Let Uhuru Kenyatta know that the bad laws he is making will one day haunt him,” he said.
Speaking in his constituency on Saturday when he met students being supported in national schools with Constituency Development Fund, Koyoo said bad laws always haunt their promoters.
He said laws should be made to guide the country to the right direction and are not meant to favour individuals.
“Laws are made to make life easier for common man and not laws aimed at making our lives difficult,” he said.
Under the Act, the Public Service Commission will have a direct role in hiring and firing staff at the Auditor General’s office and prohibits him from questioning government spending on matters of national security.
