Kisumu County governor Jack Ranguma has been urged to ensure the whole of the city has been lit up to boost security and economic growth.

Jackson Okumu an aspiring member of parliament for the Kisumu central seat has said that the county government is lighting some areas leaving out others.

"All citizens of Kisumu are equal when commissioning lighting projects the governor should have ensured that the work begins at once because currently some areas feel left out of the project," said Okumu.

Okumu faulted Ranguma for lighting areas that enjoyed relatively good security leaving out the areas that are known to be insecure.

"All informal settlement areas should have been given priority in this whole matter because they are known to be insecure and people in this areas need to be boosted economically," said Okumu.

He said that some areas do not have any hope of being lit soon, considering the pace at which the initiative is going down.

Okumu who was speaking to this writer in Kisumu on Saturday morning said the recently commissioned lighting projects across the city came too late as they were to be handled long ago age when county governments came to power.

"We need to create an environment where the people feel equal to one another. Equality in service delivery is one of the factors that will make us feel equal," said Okumu.
