Governor Jack Ranguma has supported the idea of governors paying Sh1 million as nomination fee during the Orange Democratic Movement primary elections.

Ranguma said those in senior political positions should be able to support the party even more to raise funds so that it can carry out a free and fair nomination process.

“Governors are senior members of the party and also those who will be contesting for the governorship are definitely financially able to support even the party more,” said Ranguma.

Aspirants interested in the governor’s position in the Orange Democratic Movement may be required to cough out Sh1 million as nomination fees for them to participate in the primaries up from last General Election’s Sh300,000.

This is part of the rules the party may implement in future to sieve the party of flimsy candidates and also ensure the party generates more revenue from the party nominations.

ODM Chairman John Mbadi made the statements when he met Kisumu West newly elected ODM branch officials where he was hosted by the Deputy party Organising Secretary Rozah Buyu.

Ranguma’s sentiments were also supported by his Migori counterpart Zachary Obado who also supported the idea saying the party must be supported.

“Once the party has passed such a policy, we must just follow it and support it fully,” said Obado.
