With the government both at the national and county levels concentrating on the youthful segment of the population in the nationwide voter registration exercise, Nakuru county women representative Mary Mbugua says women, especially the elderly ones should not be left out.
She says that many aging women did not participate in the previous exercise because of the many procedures that are involved but now wants registering officers to ensure that they register them.
Speaking on Saturday at Kiamaina primary grounds during the Bahati single mothers and widows day, she advised the more than 300 elderly women to register before the exercise ends.
"As women, let us drive our agenda as a group so as to nurture a society that our children will not struggle like we did. Register as voters so that we can speak one language," Mbugua said.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission officially launched a month-long countrywide voter registration exercise from February 15.
