Track One Learners Alliance Protection has volunteered to pay first term school fees for a needy student from Nyando constituency who was admitted at Friends School Kamusinga.
Festus Ochieng Ogallo was unable to go to school due to lack of school fees after scoring 393 marks.
Ogallo said he is orphaned and his mother was unable to send him to school when he approached the Alliance team.
“My ambition is to become a pilot and I am happy for the assistance I received,” he said.
Director of the Alliance Innocent Masara said he was approached by the student and he offered to pay Sh30,000 for first term fees.
Masara who vied for Homa Bay Senatorial by election promised to take the boy to school for reporting on Friday.
He called upon the political leadership to identify needy and bright students who are not able to further their education.
“This is a challenge to our leaders because this boy has been unable to receive any help in terms of scholarship from these bursaries in the county,” he said.
Masara appealed to Governor Jack Ranguma and other elected leaders in the county to assist in such cases as a way of nurturing future leaders.
Rose Akoth, the mother of the boy was grateful to the assistance and promised to continue sourcing for funds from friends to keep his son in school.
Akoth said she has struggled to get fees to send her son to school without any success until Masara stepped in.
“This is God given help, I don’t know him and he does not hail from Kisumu County, yet he agreed to help me. I am grateful and ask God to reward him abundantly,” she said.
