Residents of Katisaa area in Masinga sub-county held demonstrations on March 1 over poor states of roads in the area.
They said the roads have been damaged by sand harvesters as they transport sand from the area to other places.
In expressing their anger, they burnt down one of the kiosks where levies are paid by sand harvesters saying that the money should have been used to repair their roads.
They also beat thoroughly the person they found in the kiosk and threatened to burn him alive with the kiosk but lucky to him he managed to escape.
According to Masinga sub-county OCPD Joel Chebii who arrived at the scene with some Machakos county patrol officers, sand harvesting has brought a lot of problems in the area.
"Sand harvesting has been allowed by county government but from today right measures will be put into place. A lot of damages have been done through demonstrations and I can't sit down and watch," said Chebii.
Residents also beat thoroughly anyone they found in the kiosk and threatened to burn him before he managed to escape.
They also threatened to match to Machakos county headquarters and take off their clothes as they request to know the reason as to why the roads are not being repaired.
"We will be forced to walk naked to Machakos county headquarters and even take off our clothes as we demand to know why such activity is still taking place and nothing is being done," said one of the furious residents.
They called upon the county government to take immediate action before they are forced to do the worst.
