The ongoing Euro bond saga has generated mixed reactions in Mombasa.
The blame game pitting Cord brigade and their Jubilee counterparts has moved to yet another level after the jubilee coalition allied MP's on Friday accused former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for politicking the issue and also exposing the careers of the named officials to jeopardy.
However, the Mombasa residents who have been keenly following the whole issue from the onset have different opinions.
Obviously, those loyal to the Cord leader have expressed their support to his sentiments as they believe that there may be truth in what he is saying.
They cite an example of the NYS saga where they say that the former premier who initially ordered for investigation into the transactions that were taking place was dismissed as 'anti-development', only for the truth to be known later.
They claim the Euro Bond issue is not any different.
"Let what Raila is saying be investigated. We can only say that nothing was lost if proper investigations are done," said Humphrey Ochieng, a resident of Mtongwe.
He feels that something must be hidden in the whole issue and asked the government prove Mr Odinga wrong.
David Mwamburi's stance was not any different. According to him, a lot of money was lost and asks the government to list all the projects that were funded using the proceeds from the Euro Bond.
"Why does the government fear investigating these claims," he asked.
"The more resistant they become, the more we believe that indeed the money was lost," added the Mtongwe resident.
However, Abdul Aden Noor, differed with the opinion that the money was lost. He claims that Mr Odinga is only seeking political visibility in readiness for the 2017 polls.
To him, investigations into alleged loss of money was done and confirmed that nothing was lost.
