Residents of Kibera along Olympic estate have been urged to vacate from road reserves and public utility lands immediately to allow development to take place on the land.
Speaking earlier today the area MP, Ken Okoth, said that people who occupy the pieces of land are derailing development in the area. He said a modern plan is in place and a contractor has already been identified to start the work immediately.
''However, this cannot start when some residents are still occupying the same pieces of land and they need to vacate immediately,'' he noted.
The legislator said that the slum needs to have a proper dumping site and piped water so that the residents can directly benefit. He also asked them to move before they are forcefully evicted having known that the pieces of land were either public utilities or road reserves. He also cautioned contractors doing shoddy work that their contracts will be terminated with immediate effect.
He also urged residents not to mix politics and development since by doing so it will be difficult to develop the area.
