Residents of Kisumu have welcomed the swearing in of new Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission chairman and other commissioners.

The locals speaking to this writer on Monday said the hope the new look EACC will be instrumental in taming graft that is crippling the country’s economy.

“We do not hope that the new chairman will be given space to do their mandate without interruptions from politicians, as the previous case,”said Paul Koech.

The residents said corruption has tainted the image of the country and it is high the trend is reversed.

“EACC was formed to curb corruption in the country, but for sometime now that mandate seem to have been neglected due to many challenges , we hope that everybody will cooperate with the commission to ensure that corruption has become a thing of the past,” said Paul Keino.

The residents said that since the President had declared war on corruption, they hope that the head of state will give the Commission the full support required to accomplish their mission.

On Monday, Chief Justice Willy Mutunga witnessed the swearing of Eacc chair Philip Kinisu and four other commissioners to take over the new look EACC.
