Nyamira residents have been urged to respect incumbent leaders and work closely with them to spur growth.
Speaking at Magwagwa on Thursday, Mrs Naomi Nyagarama, the county governor's wife, said the county was staggering in development following ‘unnecessary’ interruption by residents on incumbent leaders when incited by politicians.
She said sitting leaders were having difficulties in initiating projects with a section of residents being stage managed by certain aspiring leaders to sabotage development.
“I want to challenge you that it’s important to respect leaders who were elected in previous general election. We have seen some of you being used by aspiring leaders to hurl insults at them and sometimes sabotage development just in the name of politics. Please learn to respect leaders who are in office,” she said.
She urged residents to shun ‘hard’ political stands and work with the leaders irrespective of their political believes and ideologies.
“What’s important to our people is working to develop the county. It’s really sad that some residents make political differences permanent. It’s not necessary that a sitting leader must have same political and ideological views as you. Let us give them space by helping them to develop our county irrespective of our political and ideological believes," she added.
She urged them to use formal channels to air their grievances rather than seizing opportunities in political gatherings to hull insults against sitting leaders.
