The Jubilee government has been faulted for what has been described as unwarranted attacks directed to Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy call to the widow of former Olympic 10,000m gold medalist Naftali Temu, Josephine Temu, second liberation fighter Abuya Abuya took on Deputy President William Ruto and National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale of allegedly disrespecting Odinga.
He said the government should find better ways of responding to corruption claims rather than hauling insults to the opposition leaders.
“I have been following Kenyan politics closely and I am not pleased with the way the government handles criticism from the opposition. The DP (Ruto) and Majority Leader (Duale) are on record for leading unprecedented attacks by Jubilee team towards Mr Odinga. That can never be good leadership,” he said when addressing a crowd at Nyaronge village.
Abuya who once served as Kitutu Masaba MP urged the government to investigate claims made by the opposition before going to the public to insult other leaders.
“It is now becoming a norm that whenever opposition raises a question, the government goes public throwing insults at them. Raila is a statesman and his sentiments on matters affecting us should be taken seriously,” he said.
Abuya also slammed the government for allegedly shielding embattled Devolution CS Anne Waiguru from shouldering responsibility for corruption scandals that have rocked her docket.
“The other time Raila raised the issue of NYS scandal and the DP and Duale dismissed him as usual. It is sad that the government is shielding her and sacrificing junior officials,” Abuya said.
