Uasin Gishu county government has automated its revenue system in order to curb corruption. The CEC in charge of ICT and E- Government Barnabas Sang has said that the move is aimed at ensuring that the Uasin Gishu county government meets its target of one billion in revenue collection.

"We have fully automated the revenue collection by the use of the 'Revenue Collection and Management System'. This system will help to minimise corruption with regards to the side of the county officials who collect revenue manually. This means that with the new system, every cent will be accounted for since it will be done electronically unlike in the past where millions were lost," he said

He also said that the system will enable Uasin Gishu residents to pay taxes using their mobile phones thus saving them the time and transport used whenever they had to travel to Eldoret town in the name of paying revenue.

"With the fully operational revenue collection system, we are determined to meet our target of one billion Kenya shillings mark unlike the previous financial years, he said.
