The youth in Nyamira will be receiving training on how to engage in economically viable activities that will range from being taught how to form youth groups, accessing loans and setting up business enterprises.

The two-month exercise will be carried out by Yes Youth Can group, which is sponsored by World Vision and is set to last for three months.

Speaking during the launching of the exercise, group chairperson Justus Maeche said the group has set out a programme that will cover all corners of Nyamira County.

“Our youth lack basic skills of setting groups, accessing loans from micro finances, setting business enterprises and managing the enterprises to achieve optimum results. We have set our program that will last for three months up to March 2016 and we are hopeful that we will reach a large number of young generations,” he said.

He said the programmes will be held in major trading centers in Nyamira County, and will be spearheaded by a number of professionals drawn from both banking and finance sector.

“We have already invited a number of professionals from the banking and finance sector and they will be helping us spread the message along constituting youth groups with a subsequent financing when those groups are established,” he added.

Maeche said the Yes Youth Can group would also seek support from the county government to help a few groups to start businesses that would help in fighting rampant unemployment among the youth in the county.
