Ruiru Sub County Deputy County Commissioner Mercy Gatobu has asked chiefs to ensure that law and order is observed in their localities.

Speaking to journalists at Ruiru town on Tuesday, the deputy commissioner told chiefs to work closely with the locals in efforts to boost security.

Ms Gatobu said several police vehicles have been given to local administrators to ensure they step up the fight against crime.

She said security should be streamlined across all localities warning that chiefs who fail to guarantee safety of locals will be held responsible.

“Local chiefs should take their work seriously and advance government security measures to their respective localities,” she said.

The DCC said police have stepped up security and will not give criminals chance to cause havoc.

“Security has been heightened with our officers on ground ready to deal with criminal elements or any person found on the wrong,” she said.

Gatobu called on residents to work with the police in their quest to fight crime.

She assured residents of their security this festive season saying that adequate measures including 24 hour police patrols have been put in place.
