The national government is committed to ensuring a successful devolved system of government, with the current one being the pioneer under the new constitution.

Deputy President William Ruto believes that a good working relationship between the two governments is key to a successful first phase of such a system of governance in the country.

Speaking Thursday at the Enashipai Resort and SPA, Naivasha during the Second Deputy Governors' Leadership conference, Ruto pledged full support to counties saying the most important thing was to have a peaceful and fully productive country.

"As much as we are at the national government, we still have to be involved with activities at the county level because all of us are serving one nation with same goals," he said.

The Deputy President decried the supremacy battles between governors and their deputies in some counties saying it was affecting development.

"Your personal differences should be solved in the boardroom, not at rallies or official functions. Such behavior risks shying away investors," Ruto noted.

The three day conference has brought together 30 deputy Governors and seeks to build their capacity in supporting and working with Governors in achieving the national millennium goals as enshrined in the Vision 2030.
