Nakuru deputy Governor Joseph Rutto has called on all politicians seeking elective posts in next year's polls to desist from using abusive language in their campaigns.

Rutto said it is impolite for some politicians to engage in politics of mudslinging and throwing abuses at their opponents.

Speaking Sunday at the St Gerald’s Catholic Church in Heshima, the deputy governor called on politicians to engage in mature and modern politics, saying abusive politics have no place in  modern Kenya.

“We all want to be elected leaders but let us keep off from using dirty language when seeking votes. Instead, let us focus on real issues in our campaigns,” said Rutto.

He added; “We should not divide people simply because we are looking for votes. At the end of it all, we will need all these people after the elections”.

He called on wananchi to reject leaders who use dirty language when campaigning.

“The best way to discipline such people is by rejecting them at the ballot because that is the way we can tell them that we have moved from the old age kind of politics,” he said.
