Thika West OCPD SSP Erastus Muthamia has assured security during the Mount Kenya University graduation on Friday.

Speaking on Thursday during the graduation rehearsals, the OCPD said that measures have been put in place to ensure security during the ceremony. He said that security officers would be deployed at the venue and outside to ensure security.

The OCPD warned that hawkers and idlers will not be allowed in the graduation premises as a way of curbing petty criminal activities. He said that during such ceremonies, some individuals pretend to be part of the guests in the ceremony and end up stealing from the guests. Muthamia also stated that pick-pockets have been put on the spot as the police will arrest such offenders.

He said that they will also need order from the graduates in order to avoid any sort of commotions.

The police boss stated that in order to make this possible, he appealed to everyone to cooperate with security personnels to make the day a success. He urged guests to report of any crime activities to police officers who will be available in the area to handle the issue.
