Security has been heightened in Munyaka area ahead of the circumcision ceremony scheduled to commence on Saturday. 5 police patrol vehicles have been put in place to beef up of security. 37 police officers have also been posted at the community grounds.
Speaking from the area on Friday morning, the program coordinator Njuguna Warugongo lauded the aid from the sub county commissioner Daniel Nyamiti. Warugongo noted that 82 youthful men have also been hired to help in the initiation ceremony. He said that the 82 were chosen from various wards within the sub county.
"We are eagerly waiting for the official opening of the ceremony on Saturday. As you have seen we have been awarded with 37 police officers who will start arriving tonight. We have also been given 5 police patrol vehicles which the officers will use to provide security in this area," he said.
Warugongo noted that the registration was done successfully with the 1, 500 candidates target met.
"We closed the registration on Thursday with 1, 500 candidates registered which was our main target," he said.
He further said that the ceremony would start at 3:00 p m with speeches from the area commissioner and several Kikuyu elders.
"The event will commence at exactly 3:00 pm with the official opening done by Daniel Nyamiti our commissioner and other elders from Nyeri. It will be followed by counselling sessions which will happen until Sunday evening when the circumcision will begin," he explained.
